Golf Course of the Week – French Lick Resort (Dye)

Who wants to travel to Indiana with me and play two great golf courses?

This week’s realistic Golf Course of the Week is the Pete Dye course at the French Lick Resort.  Talk about a beauty!

At a whopping 8,102 yards from the tips, this course will definitely test your skills.  The course is located in the rollings hills of French Lick and the photos of the course make it

look like a painting.  Pete Dye courses are some of my favorite and I can’t wait until I can take an unconventional vacation to southern Indiana and play this course (and the Donald Ross course, also at the French Lick Resort).  Dye designed this as a “walkable” course (which sounds ridiculous considering the length) and the course hosted the 2010 PGA Professionals National Championship.   The course was ranked #18 on Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Public courses.

Being a resort course, the pricing seems to be based on different “stay and play” packages.

Besides golf, it looks like there are plenty of other activities to entertain you at the resort, including a casino, spas, hiking, concerts, and more.   Other than not being on the coast, I can’t seem to find anything to keep me from taking a trip to French Lick and experiencing this great golf course.  Looking at the pictures, going in the fall might be a great time to visit Indiana as the fall foliage looks like it could be amazing.
